Maria McGrogan
Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Maria!
I have over two decades of experience walking alongside people on their journey towards self-understanding and growth. I hold a BSC hons degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and a master’s degree in social work. But beyond the qualifications, I bring something just as important to the therapy room: real, lived experience. I know first-hand that life isn’t always straightforward, and therapy isn’t a quick fix—but if you’re willing to stick with it, deep and lasting change is possible.
Whether you’re here because you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or simply need a pressure valve release, I offer a space that’s supportive and non-judgmental. Maybe you’re looking for practical strategies to manage stress right now (I use CBT for that), or perhaps you’re ready to dive deeper into understanding the patterns and experiences that shaped you (psychodynamic and humanistic approaches can help with that). Either way, I’ll meet you where you are at.
I have a particular interest in working with neurodiverse individuals. I understand how navigating a world that isn’t always designed with neurodiverse minds in mind can be both challenging and exhausting. Whether you’re seeking ways to manage overwhelm or looking to embrace and harness the strengths of your neurodivergence, I’m here to support you in that journey.
I’m not just a therapist—I’m a human being with my own strengths, struggles, and stories. I’ve read the books, done the training, but I’ve also lived life, and I understand how complex and challenging it can be. My role is to build a genuine connection with you, to listen deeply, and to help you understand yourself better: how life has shaped you, and how you can make conscious choices moving forward to enrich your life.
Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about understanding you. So, if you’re ready to start that journey, I’m here to walk it with you.
