MBCAP integrative psychotherapist

Counselling can be a big step for any person to embark on, taking the leap to trust and open up to a stranger is daunting, and how do you know which type of therapist to choose, there are so many.

These are a few of the things I imagine you are thinking when looking for the right counsellor for you. By me telling you a little about myself will hopefully help you make the right decision for you and your needs.

My name is Karen, and I am a fully qualified MBCAP integrative psychotherapist.

Being an integrative therapist means I have studied various techniques of counselling from CBT, Person Centred to Psychodynamic and grief, (these are just a few).  But by understanding that every individual is just that, individual, I like to ensure that I am working for you. I treat you as you and not just like everyone else.  Not all techniques work for everyone, so having the background and knowledge allows me to personalise your experience, so that you get the most out of our time together.

I have worked with a variation of clients, and have helped integrate a number of my clients back into the working and social environment, whether that is helping with moving from new countries, abuse or the feeling of isolation and loneliness’ to name a few.

I like to think of myself as a personable person, I want to make you feel like you are in a safe and non-judgemental space, where you can take the time you need to open up to me.  Building on our relationship of trust and openness, I see as a key thing to help get to the point that you feel you are opening up to a friend and not a stranger.
