Emma McGowan
Counsellor
Hi, my name is Emma and I am an Adult Integrative Counsellor.
I offer a safe space, and non-judgmental counselling support where you will have the time you need for yourself.
This gives you the space to explore whatever difficulties you are facing, together. It can be such a hard step to come to therapy and I will do everything I can to make you feel welcome and safe throughout the therapeutic process. I understand this can be a daunting experience, but rest assured I will work at your own comfortable pace while adapting my counselling approach to best meet your individual needs, and promoting autonomy every step of the way.
I can help you with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma and life direction. I will strive to ensure you get the best help you deserve.
I use an integrative approach, which means that I draw from a number of counselling models, including psychodynamic, attachment based, and cognitive behavioural therapy. I tailor my approach to your needs and offer both short and longer term work. Our focus will be to improve your quality of life, in the areas that you bring to counselling.
I hold qualifications in the following areas:
- BSc (Hons) Psychology
- Foundation Degree in Counselling
- Level 4 Certificate in Counselling
- Mental Health First Aid
- Applied Suicide Intervention Training (Assist)
“Counselling has to do with intuition, with work on oneself, with the quietness of one’s mind and the openness of one’s heart.” ~Baba Ram Dass
