Elsa Steen
CBT Therapist
Hello, I’m Elsa,
I understand it can be daunting finding a therapist and hope the information below can help. I am a cognitive behavioural therapist (CBT) and currently work with adults and children. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have worked as a school counsellor with children aged 4-18 and in GP surgeries as an in-house therapist. CBT is an evidenced and skill-based therapy which looks at understanding the links between our thoughts (cognitions), feelings (emotions) and actions (behaviours). My aim is to help individuals better understand their thoughts and behaviours, making a positive change in their life.
I am primarily a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist but I also have training in Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Person Centred Therapy. I have the skills to help clients with a variety of difficulties including but not limited to, anxiety disorders such as panic disorder, health anxiety, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, as well as depression, low self-esteem and stress.
I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where we work together collaboratively to reach your therapy goals.
